(Friendship, Ind.) – Citizens impacted by the ongoing closure of State Road 62 can hear the latest on the project tonight.
The Indiana Department of Transportation is hosting a meeting Wednesday, September 21 regarding the highway closure. The meeting will be at the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department beginning at 7:00 p.m.
SR 62 has been closed just east of Friendship for 148 days. A rainy and wet Spring led to parts of the road being washed out April 24.
INDOT engineers will inform locals about what is being done to get the highway restored.
In August, the department said about $1.7 million from Emergency Relief Funds will be used to make the road safe for travel once again.
Many people living in Friendship and nearby areas have had to resort to using long detours. To drive around the closure.
