(Harrison, Oh.) - Southwest Local Schools’ superintendent has retired, then been rehired in order to save the school district money.

The Harrison Press reports Chris Brown was given a new five-year contract by the school board on July 12. The agreement includes a lower salary, saving the district about $72,000 over the term of the contract.

Brown took retirement earlier this year. He will be back on the job August 1.

Southwest Local Schools’ first student day of 2012-13 will be August 23.
