(Milan, Ind.) – A Milan Community Schools bus driven by the school district’s assistant superintendent was hit by a teen driver Wednesday.
At about 3:30 p.m., Ripley County deputies responded to a 911 call of a two vehicle crash in front of a residence at 4241 East County Road 500 North near Milan.
The 17-year-old female driver of a 1997 Chevy S-10 pickup truck told deputies she was leaving her residence and failed to stop and look both ways at the end of her driveway before entering onto County Road 500 North. The pickup struck an oncoming school bus driven by Thomas J. Reale almost head on.
Nineteen students were aboard the bus. None were injured. They were loaded onto a second school bus and continued on their route.
Reale is the assistant superintendent for Milan Community Schools.
The crash is still under investigation by the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, which said that a citation could be issued.
