(Cross Plains, Ind.) – Ripley County deputies are searching for a woman who struck a vehicle with her own car before fleeing the accident scene Sunday.
Deputies responded to a property damage accident at State Road 129 and County Road 900 South in Cross Plains at about 4:00 p.m. Reportedly, a female driver of a light tan, older model Jeep Cherokee with tinted windows, and a male passenger, attempted to negotiate a turn off of the state highway. The vehicle left the roadway on the south side and slid into a driveway.
There, the suspect vehicle crashed into a green 2006 Pontiac GT passenger vehicle, which was parked in the driveway. The parked vehicle was heavily damaged, deputies said.
Despite the crash, the driver of the Jeep Cherokee fled. She struck a stop sign at the intersection with the rear of her vehicle. The suspect then left heading northbound on SR 129 towards Versailles.
Investigators are seeking information that leads to the identity of the driver and vehicle that fled the scene. Contact the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office at (812) 689-5558, or any law enforcement agency.
