CMA Awards Recap

Here's what went down in Nashville Wednesday night.

(Nashville, TN)  -- Thursday night's 2018 Country Music Association Awards ended with shock and a lot of happy tears from Keith Urban and his wife, Nicole Kidman, when he was named Entertainer of the Year.

The Australian Country star beat out Chris Stapleton, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Kenny Chesney.

He said in his acceptance speech that he wished his dad was alive to see him win.

Garth Brooks dedicated the entire show to the 12 people killed in the mass shooting at a country bar in Thousand Oaks, California.

"Tonight, let's celebrate their lives. Let the music unite us with love in their enduring memory," said Brooks.

He held a moment of silence, and the names of the victims were displayed on the screen.

The most wins of the night went to Chris Stapleton.  He picked up three - Single and Song of the Year for his track, Broken Halos, as well as Male Vocalist of the Year.  He also performed alongside Maren Morris and Mavis Staples.

Carrie Underwood was named Female Vocalist of the Year again, while Old Dominion scored Vocal Group.

Luke Combs walked away with the award for New Artist, and Album of the Year went to Kacey Musgraves' Golden Hour.

Garth Brooks debuted a brand new song called Stronger Than Me dedicated to his wife, Trisha Yearwood.

Dan and Shay performed their hit song, Tequila, and Florida Georgia Line took the stage with pop singer Bebe Rexha for their song, Meant to Be.

Other performers throughout the evening were Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert, Pistol Annies and more.

The show was hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, who revealed that she's pregnant with her second son.
