(Nashville, TN)  --  Lee Ann Womack is speaking out about the genre she loves.

During a recent episode of the PBS show "Overheard with Evan Smith," Womack said,"What they call country music now, mass-market country music, is obviously not country music."

She added, "I don't know what it is.  It's sort of pop music, I guess.  I don't know."

Womack shared a clip of the interview on her Instagram page, along with the caption, "Sometimes the truth just sort of slips out."
