This weekend, Adam Duwel will be riding the 85 roads in Hidden Valley Lake to raise money for the Lauren Hill Memorial Park.
(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - As the vision of creating the Friends of Lauren Hill Memorial Park continues to become a reality, co-founder Adam Duwel will attempt to raise funds to help move the process forward.
In remembrance of co-founder Tom Biedenharn and in support of the park, Duwel will be biking every road in Hidden Valley on Saturday, May 23.
"This upcoming Memorial Day weekend will mark 2 years since a great man was taken from us, Tom Biedenharn," says Adam Duwel. "For those that do not know he was the one that presented in 2016 about his vision of the Lauren Hill Memorial Park. I followed his presentation up as an 8th grader talking about building mountain bike trails where the Lauren Hill Park will be. I joined his team after the meeting and our two ideas became one. I looked up to Tom as a mentor and as a leader."
Duwel is asking that 85 people donate at least $5 to the cause, with all donations going directly to help build the Lauren Hill Memorial Park. The goal of 85 donors represents the 85 streets in Hidden Valley.
"This ride means a lot to me," says Duwel. "Tom was a great person and became my mentor. Tom's passion to build the Lauren Hill Park is what gave me the drive to continue his mission after he passed. This is more than a 50 mile ride for me. For me it's my way of showing the community just how much passion and energy that Tom put into everything he did."
If this race proves to be a success, Duwel plans to hold this fundraiser annually.
