(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Republican Indiana Sixth District Congressman Greg Pence does not believe President Trump’s tweet telling four Democratic congresswoman to "go back" to the places where they came from is racist.

Trump's Sunday comments targeted freshmen representatives Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan. Only Omar was born outside the U.S. View the original tweet threat from the president below.

Southeastern Indiana U.S. Congressman Greg Pence (R-Columbus) does not believe Trump’s tweet was racist.

“I don’t think the president is a racist. I don’t speak for the administration. I thought the president the day after that clarified what he meant, but it sure became an opportunity for the national media and the Democrats to just go back to the name calling, the ugly words,” Pence said Thursday morning on Eagle Country 99.3.

Rep. Pence, brother of Vice President Mike Pence, said it is time to move on from the name calling which has “gotten out of control.” He added that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was censured for breaking the rules of the House.

The House voted to condemn the President for telling four Democrats who are Americans that they should go back where they came fromif they are unhappy in the U.S.

Pence voted against the House resolution. Fellow Indiana Congressional Delegation member Rep. Susan Brooks, who announced her retirement earlier this month, was one of four Republicans who sided with Democrats on the vote.
