Batesville PD Warns Of Texting Scam

(Batesville, Ind.) – Several people have reported receiving a text message which seeks their personal information.

The Batesville Police Department issued a community alert Sunday evening detailing the message claiming to be from Indiana Bank & Trust.

“Do not respond to this message. It is not the local bank but an out of state number to call with different codes to use. It appears to be a fraudulent misrepresentation,” the department’s warning said.

Officers spoke with local representatives of Indiana Bank & Trust who advised that people should not call the number given in the text message.
