Brush Cutting Continues In SEI

This won't impact traffic much but motorists should be on the lookout for crews on numerous local roads.

(Undated) – Districtwide brush cutting is continuing in southeastern Indiana.

Indiana Department of Transportation maintenance crews will continue right-of-way mechanical brush cutting across the Southeast District this winter to remove trees, shrubs and other vegetation along numerous state highways.

Brush cutting is completed to remove vegetation that is blocking line-of-sight or traffic signs, reduce asphalt deterioration due to trapped moisture and provide shoulder space for motorists

Specific routes where brush cutting is planned include U.S. 50, State Road 46, U.S. 31, U.S. 421, State Road 7, State Road 3, State Road 135, State Road 446 and State Road 250.

Mechanical brush removal utilizes specialized equipment such as tractors with boom mowers and excavators with mulching heads. Operations are typically performed on shoulders with minimal traffic impacts.

However, motorists should still use caution and watch for active crews throughout the district.
