(Cincinnati, Oh.) - After more than a year of mainly online classes due to the COVID pandemic, Cincinnati State is planning for a safe return to a full in-person course schedule for the Fall 2021 Semester.

The plan is based on the continued success of the national COVID-19 vaccination roll out. That plan includes an estimate by the White House that there will be enough vaccines for every adult in the U.S. by the end of May. The college will also follow any CDC and local safety protocols that are in place.

"Our faculty, staff and students have done a magnificent job of dealing with COVID," said Robbin Hoopes, provost of Cincinnati State.

"As the risk from COVID comes down to an acceptable level, we need to be fully back on campus as part of our commitment to quality. Many of our degrees prepare students for careers in advanced technical, health care, culinary and other fields. In person instruction is how we ensure students have the high level of training and hands-on skills they need to be successful in the workforce."

Not all Fall Semester courses will be in person, just as prior to the pandemic.

Fall students will continue to have the option of taking a number of courses at Cincinnati State online. Students will also have the new option of taking many general education courses either in person or in a "live web" format in which the student is remote but can interact with a live classroom on a regular schedule.

General education courses include math, English, humanities, sciences, and many courses in business technologies. The credits students earn from general education courses at Cincinnati State are transferable to 4-year universities throughout the state and beyond, with guaranteed transferability to Ohio public colleges and Northern Kentucky University.

Fall students at Cincinnati State will also have the new option of receiving tutoring, writing center support, academic advising and other academic support services either on campus or remotely.

"While this past year has been challenging for everyone, we learned a lot about how to better serve our busy students through a creative mix of in-person and remote education and services," said Dr. Monica

Posey, president of Cincinnati State. "But we are very excited about being fully back on campus this fall, and continuing our mission of preparing students for advanced technical and health careers, and ongoing higher education."

Fall semester courses will be posted on cincinnatistate.edu on March 22, with course registration beginning March 29.
