Daylight Savings Time Ends Sunday

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Remember to “fall back” before going to bed Saturday night.

Daylight Savings Time ends at 2:00 a.m. Sunday, meaning all clocks will have to be rolled back an hour if they’re to be accurate.

Not long ago, southeast Indiana residents would have to clarify “fast time” and “slow time” when arranging meetings or making appointments, because Indiana was not on DST while Ohio and Kentucky were. That changed in 2005 when the Indiana legislature passed a law to include the entire state to recognize the time change. Only 16 counties, including Dearborn and Ohio, had done so before.

In 2006, eight counties in the northwest and southwest parts of the state converted back to Central Time.

Fire departments remind you that it’s also a good time to check the batteries in smoke detectors in homes, churches, and businesses.

Daylight Savings Time will return when we “spring ahead” the second sunday of March 2012.

Since Indiana began recognizing Daylight Savings Time in 2005, there are now only two states which do not follow it - Arizona and Hawaii.
