INDIANAPOLIS - The Association of Indiana Counties (AIC) announced that Dearborn County Recorder Joyce Oles received the 2023 Outstanding Recorder Award. The award recognized her contributions made to county government throughout her years of public service.
Joyce is in her second term as County Recorder of Dearborn County. First elected in 2018, Joyce joined the Recorders office as a Deputy Recorder after working in the title industry for 27 years.
While in office, Joyce has served as the Southeast District Vice-President of the Recorder’s Association. She has served as the Indiana Recorder’s Association Secretary. Presently she is serving on the Indiana Recorder’s Legislative Committee. She is on the Task Force Committee with the Indiana Archives and Records Administration as well as the Attorney General’s Office for the Address Confidentiality Program
The award was presented during the AIC’s 65th Annual Conference in Orange County on Wednesday, September 27, 2023. The AIC’s Annual Conference is the largest gathering of county officials in the state. Representatives from public agencies, private entities, and local elected officials addressed issues such as Public Access Laws, Budgeting Best Practices, Technology, Human Resources Challenges, Road Funding, Public and Mental Health, Regional Tourism, and Natural Resource Matters.
