Florence Man Charged With Multiple Counts Of Sodomy

Cortez was charged on Wednesday, April 15.

(Boone County, Ind.) - A Florence man has been charged after allegedly sodomizing a 14-year-old victim over multiple years. 

On Wednesday, detectives from Boone County Sheriff's Office charged Bobby J. Cortez, 38, with ten counts of sodomy. 

In an interview with Cortez, he claims that he had been on drugs and could not recall the abuse. He goes on to say that he would take full responsibility and apologizes for being a "monster."

While living in Northern Kentucky, Cortez allegedly sodomized the victim approximately 10-15 times. 

Each count of sodomy is a Class B Felony and punishable by 10-15 years in prison.

Cortez is currently being held at the Boone County Detention Center where he was arrested for violating conditions of release of a previous and unrelated charge. 

He is being held on a $100,000 cash bond for the sodomy charges and $2,500 bond for the violations of conditions of release charge.
