(Decatur County, Ind.) - In October 2023, Indiana State Police Special Investigations Division opened an investigation into the allegation of theft by a township trustee in Decatur County.

Over the course of the investigation, it was determined that 36-year-old Christian Rust allegedly committed theft of over $29,000 during his time as the Washington Township Trustee.

There were also allegations of removing files from government computers. At the conclusion of the investigation, the findings were turned over to the Decatur County Prosecutor's Office who filed one count of theft and three counts of Official Misconduct against Rust. Upon the issuance of an arrest warrant, Rust turned himself into the Decatur County Sheriff's Office earlier today.

All crimes mentioned are alleged and all suspects are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in the court of law.

Since an arrest has been made, any further inquiries into this case should be sent to the Decatur County Prosecutor's Office.
