(Greendale, Ind.) – It has been a longtime coming, but Friends of Lauren Hill Memorial Park will officially open this week.
Community members are invited to attend the grand opening on Friday, April 22 at 1901 Fairway Drive, just at the top of Georgetown Road in Greendale. Festivities will begin at 5:00 p.m.
Some community members have already taken advantage of the park, which includes a dog park.
However, the park is currently closed for maintenance ahead of the grand opening on Friday. You may see people in it at times, but they are board members or hired associates to help with making sure the park is ready for its big day.
Park board member Adam Duwel took to Twitter this week to share a timeline of events leading up to the grand opening.

The park is in loving memory of Lauren Hill, an avid dog lover, who's story raised and continues to raise awareness and hope for a cure against DIPG. The park will also honor the memory of Tom Biedenham, who presented the idea for the park in 2016.
