IDNR Enacts New Firewood Rules

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has a new firewood rule in effect as Hoosiers start to head out to campgrounds.

The rule took effect over the weekend and bans bringing in firewood to campgrounds from out of state.

Additionally, people can bring their own firewood in to campgrounds so long as it is from Indiana and the bark has been removed.

The DNR says the new rule, in short, is: "buy it with a stamp, bring it debarked, burn it all."

Campers caught violating the new firewood rule could have the wood confiscated and be slapped with a fine up to $500.
