(Sunman, Ind.) - Indiana State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that resulted in the death of an Osgood man.
Joshua Ebinger, 37, was shot and killed during a domestic disturbance call on Sunday morning at a home on East County Road 900 North near Sunman.
According to Indiana State Police, Ebinger was violating a protection order that a female had in place against him.
Upon arriving at the scene around 9:00 a.m., the female exited the home and was moved to safety. Ebinger then exited the home while holding a handgun.
Officers commanded Ebinger drop the weapon, but he allegedly pointed the gun at the officers. An ISP Trooper and Ripley County Sheriff's deputy fired their weapons at Ebinger. He was struck by at least one round and officers immediately provided medical care and called for EMS to respond to the scene.
Ebinger was pronounced dead at the scene.
The names of the officers involved have not been released. Both officers are on administrative leave while the investigation continues.
