This partnership aims to help fill the critical need for educators in the state of Indiana.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Ivy Tech Community College and Grace College are partnering to create opportunities for Ivy Tech students with a new transfer agreement focused on training elementary educators. Ivy Tech students already have access to general education transfer opportunities with Grace. Both institutions recognize the critical need for teachers in the state of Indiana, especially northeast Indiana, and have entered the 2+2 partnership without a statewide mandate to do so.

“This is a real ‘win’ for elementary-age children across Indiana and for our Ivy Tech students,” said Ivy Tech Fort Wayne/Warsaw Chancellor Dr. Jerrilee Mosier. “Our students are passionate about their endeavors and just need access to the financial and community support it takes to pursue and complete a Bachelor’s degree. This is a tangible way that Ivy Tech is creating partnerships that keep our students moving toward their goals and meeting the needs of our communities. We are pleased to have Grace College join us in these efforts.”

Students studying Elementary Education at any Ivy Tech can take advantage of this articulation agreement as long as the student meets Grace’s entrance requirements and completes Ivy Tech’s Transfer As a Junior program.

“The Grace College School of Education is excited to collaborate with Ivy Tech Community College Statewide to provide exceptional training for students desiring to complete their Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education,” said Dr. Rachael Hoffert Chair of Elementary Education at Grace College. “In today’s society, the need for quality educators is in high demand. This partnership will create a link between two institutions to develop future teachers with character, competence, and a heart for service.”

Grace College is actively working on initiatives to reduce the cost of tuition for all Ivy Tech graduates, and has already put in place a tuition assistance guarantees for Ivy Tech graduates from the Warsaw and Fort Wayne campus. Any Ivy Tech student who has a zero Estimated Family Contribution on the FAFSA and full state aid will have traditional undergraduate tuition fully covered by federal, state, and Grace financial aid. Other Ivy Tech students will receive at least $10,000 in scholarships from Grace College for traditional undergraduate programs.

"We are thrilled to announce a partnership with Grace College’s School of Education,” said Katie Thomas, Program Chair of Elementary Education at Ivy Tech Fort Wayne. “We look forward to continuing to develop this relationship to allow for our students to become compassionate, dedicated, and well-rounded educators of the future."
