(Indianapolis, Ind.) - The new administration for The City of Lawrenceburg attended training for newly elected officials this week in Indianapolis.
The event, hosted by Accelerate Indiana Municipalities, featured classroom work, peer to peer networking, and guest speakers all focused on providing basic information and tools for city and town officials, helping them manage their first weeks in office and build a foundation for a successful term.
Mayor Kelly Mollaun joined newly elected City Councilmen Brett Bondurant, Lennie Fryman, Justin Noppert, Tom Rowlett, and new Clerk-Treasurer Mark Fette. City Manager Guinevere Emery and Redevelopment Director Bryan Messmore also attended the three day seminar. In addition to attending the AIM training, the officials toured the Statehouse, which is in the midst of the 2020 legislative session, to learn about the lawmaking process and issues that impact the City, especially gaming.
AIM describes the importance of this training: “City and town elected officials truly serve on the front lines of our American democracy. It can be a challenging responsibility, particularly for those recently elected. Yet with the proper preparation and training, municipal officials can assume responsibilities of office, smoothly and effectively.”
The new administration for the City of Lawrenceburg, along with returning Mayor Kelly Mollaun and returning Councilman Tony Abbott, continue to display their desire to roll their sleeves up and effect real change to benefit the people of Lawrenceburg. This training is just one example of the incredible amount of hard work everyone has put in to hit the ground running in 2020.
