Local Organizations Purchase School Supplies for Milan Elementary School Students

For the second year in a row, MES students will have the majority of their school supplies provided to them.

(Milan, Ind.) – Thanks to community spirit and local organizations, students at Milan Elementary School are starting the new school year fully equipped with supplies.

For the second year in a row, MES students will have the majority of their school supplies provided to them.

The initiative, spearheaded by Principal Travis Rohrig has been instrumental in alleviating the financial burden on families and fostering a supportive educational environment.

“I cannot express the gratitude that I have for our community. This has been a goal of mine since I came to MES. We know the economy has been tough on everybody, and I am so thankful that our community organizations stepped up once again to support our students, teachers, and families. This is true demonstration of giving back and acts of service from our community groups. There is no better investment than investing in a child,” said Principal Rohrig.

In total, seven organizations contributed funds so that notebooks, pencils, crayons, folders, erasers, glue sticks, markers, scissors and other supplies could be provided.

The supplies were strategically purchased for classrooms through a partnership with the Aurora Wal-Mart.

Milan Community Schools thank the Sons of American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, Milan VFW, American Legion, Milan Elementary PTO, Moving MES Forward, and Aurora Wal-Mart for their support.
