Local Unemployment Rates For January

Franklin and Ripley counties tied for the best jobless rate in the area.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Local unemployment rates for the month of January were released on Tuesday. 

According to the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, Franklin and Ripley counties had a jobless rated of 3.6 percent, which is below the state's unemployment rate of 4.2 percent in January. 

Ohio County also came in below the state's rate at 3.8 percent. Dearborn County followed with an unemployment rate of 4.2 percent. 

Lastly, Switzerland County reported a jobless rate of 5.1 percent. 

Of the five counties, each saw a slight increase in unemployment during January.
