Mega Millions $250K Winners Claim Prize

(Cincinnati, Oh.) - Six employees of Kao USA in Cincinnati are $250,000 richer.

The group matched the first five white ball numbers in last week’s record breaking $656 million Mega Millions jackpot, but not the Mega Ball.

Roy Horton, of Covington, purchased the ticket for the group at The Grocery Bag in Taylor Mill, Ky.

"Everyone began texting and emailing each other the news," said Paige Johnson, one of the winners.

The co-workers went to the Kentucky Lottery headquarters in Louisville on Wednesday to claim their prize. They waited to turn in their winning ticket until one of the group members, Jason Gillispie, of Florence, returned from vacation.

There was a second $250,000 Mega Million ticket sold in northern Kentucky for the same drawing. It was purchased at the Fast Max Convenience Store in Cold Spring. Lottery officials said that prize has been claimed, but the winner wanted to remain anonymous.

The odds of matching the Mega Million first five numbers is 3,904,701 to one, substantially better than the 175,711,536 to one odds of hitting the full jackpot.
