(Ripley County, Ind.) - Milan and Batesville's football team once again raised thousands of dollars to support the Turnover Hunger program.

Administered through the Ripley County Community Foundation, the annual fundraiser supports the the Weekend Backsack Program, which sends a backpack of food home with students who are experiencing food insecurity on weekends.

For every turnover the two varsity football teams forced, fans were encouraged to make a monetary donation towards the program. This season, Milan forced 24 turnovers, and Batesville 20 - leading to $13,400 being collected.

That means $2,680 was distributed to each Ripley County elementary school, ensuring that students facing food insecurity have access to the meals they need.

In Ripley County, 14.9 percent of children experience food insecurity, but together, we’re making a difference. This season, enough funds were raised to feed around 200 students for a semester—but the need is greater. Approximately 225 students need support from this program.

While this football season has come to a close, the fight against hunger continues. With an average meal costing just $4, every donation counts in helping our kids thrive. Donate today at https://rccfonline.org/impact/initiatives/turnover-hunger/.
