(Milan, Ind.) - The Milan HS Band competed in the ISSMA concert contest at Columbus North High School on Friday night.
The Milan HS Band has been preparing for the ISSMA concert contest since the beginning of 2024. The band worked on perfecting three songs: Cajun Folk Songs, Nostalgia, and Runaway Circus Train. These songs all had difficult parts that the band students worked hard to dominate. The band earned a gold at these three songs, which is the highest earning in their group.
According to band senior member, Kaitlyn Carpenter, “We prepared a lot this year and had many amazing talented musicians, so I believed we would be getting gold tonight!”
While also preparing for these songs, the band worked on sight-reading, where the band is given a song with 10 minutes to prepare on the spot. The band also earned a gold in this portion.
The Milan HS Band would like to thank the Reservation for providing snacks and wraps for before the performance and the parent and educator supporters that traveled with them.
