(Milan, Ind.) – A Milan student and teacher were recently recognized by the Milan VFW Post 6234
The veteran's organization announced award winners for Voice of Democracy essay contest on Monday.
Milan High School students Shelby Williams and Bonnie Hoffrogge were awarded scholarships from the VFW. The audio-essay program provides high school students with the opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay.
Each year, nearly 40,000 high school students from across the country enter to win their share of $2.1 million in educational scholarships and incentives through the program.
The Milan VFW also awarded Richard Healy with their Teacher of the Year Award. Healy teaches 7th and 8th grade history.
