Milan Women Arrested For Heroin

(Sunman, Ind.) - Two Milan residents are in jail after a traffic stop led to heroin being found.

An Indiana State Police trooper made the stop on State Road 101 in Sunman on Wednesday about 12:30 p.m.

Another trooper with a police K9 partner was in the area and came to help with the stop. The K9 team did a walk around of the vehicle and the dog alerted on the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of heroin, a hypodermic needle, and other articles of paraphernalia commonly associated with heroin use.

The driver, Jade Moore, 25, and her passenger, Eileen Presley, 26, both of Milan, were each arrested.

Moore is charged with Possession of a Narcotic Drug (under 3 grams), Possession of a Hypodermic Needle (both Class D Felonies), and Possession of Paraphernalia (Class A Misdemeanor).

Presley faces charges of Possession of a Hypodermic Needle and Possession of Paraphernalia.

Each of the suspects were transported to the Ripley County Jail where they were ordered held on $1,050 bond.

“This is yet another example of how a traffic stop for a minor traffic violation can lead to more serious criminal charges,” said Trooper Jimmy Wells, who performed the traffic stop.
