(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Lawrenceburg High School graduate Jasmyn Blackburn has been named Miss Dearborn County.
The designation allows Blackburn to represent her home county at the Miss Indiana USA pageant this April.
Blackburn competed in her first pageant earlier this year, being recruited while modeling to compete at the Miss Colorado USA pageant where she placed in the top five.
She had moved from Lawrenceburg to Colorado after graduating from Ball State University with a bachelor's degree in marketing at 20-years-old.
As Miss Dearborn County, Blackburn’s mission is to promote kindness and inspire self-confidence by empowering individuals, especially youth, to cultivate positivity, lead with compassion and empathy and spread love every day with small acts of kindness.
To do so, she will be initiating a kindness and confidence focused platform, creating a blog to share ideas and creating events including a speaking tour at Dearborn County schools.
Aside from pageanting, Blackburn is currently in grad school as she works to become an elementary education teacher. She currently serves as a kindergarten educator and assistant varsity tennis coach at Lawrenceburg schools.
Blackburn is also a dedicated volunteer with Girls on the Run, a program for elementary girls inspiring empowerment and kindness through running, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, a mentorship organization for underprivileged youth.
“I am beyond passionate about helping our world become a place filled with more love and kindness, starting with one small act at a time. Waking up and choosing to lead the day with empathy and positivity will completely change your outlook on life and create a life of happiness. I plan to spread these values representing Dearborn County and becoming the next Miss Indiana USA,” said Blackburn.
