More Good News For Local Air Travelers

(Hebron, Ky.) - Airfares continue to become more affordable at the Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport. New federal transportation data shows that CVG’s average ticket price in the second quarter was $342. That’s down 13 percent from a year ago. It’s the first time ever that CVG’s ticket prices have been below the national average, which was $356. The airport ranked 69th among the top 100 U.S. airports, the best ranking since the report was first published in 1995. Average ticket prices at CVG were also lower than that of any neighboring airport, including Indianapolis, Dayton, and Lexington. Prices at those airports were $354, $401, and $433, respectively. “CVG is proud to now be the lowest fare airport in the Tri-State region,” said Candace McGraw, the airport's CEO. “Passengers are paying on average $200 less per ticket than they were four years ago. Our community has responded very positively, proven by our passenger volumes growing more than 70 percent over the last four years.” Decreasing ticket prices have certainly helped CVG become more popular for local air travelers. Last month, the airport announced local passenger traffic was up 30 percent in August 2017 when compared to August 2016. Five new airlines added to the airport's roster since 2013 including discount carriers Frontier Airlines, Allegiant Air, and Southwest Airlines.
