The incident began around 8:00 AM Monday at a home in Batesville.

(Batesville, Ind.) – Indiana State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred in Batesville.
Batesville Police responded to a disturbance at a residence on Bridlewood Trace Road on Monday around 8:00 a.m.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers were able to get an adult female and three children out of the home.
While attempting to make contact with a man inside the home, a shot was fired by the suspect in the direction of an officer. The officer suffered minor injuries caused by debris.
Indiana State Police SWAT Team and Hostage Negotiation Team responded to the scene. Negotiators were able to make brief contact with the suspect, but shortly after 11:00 a.m., additional shots were fired by the suspect from inside the home.
The suspect exited the home around 11:30 a.m. and was holding a handgun when officers fired their weapons, striking him with at least one shot. Officers provided immediate medical attention, and the suspect was transported to Margaret Mary Health where he passed away.
The identity of the suspect and the officers involved are forthcoming, according to Indiana State Police.
An autopsy and toxicology results are pending, as the investigation is ongoing.
