(Ripley County, Ind.) – One person was injured, and another was arrested after a single-vehicle crash in Ripley County.

It was shortly after midnight on November 25 when Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the crash on County Road 850 North.

Upon arrival, deputies located Nathan Scoggins, 20, and Cameron Gehl, 20, both of Osgood, outside of the vehicle which had caught on fire.

The initial investigation revealed that Scoggins was operating a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck when for an unknown reason the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a wooded area.

Deputies say Gehl sustained a serious injury and was unable to walk. He was airlifted from the scene to UC Medical Center.

Scoggins was taken into custody and charges are pending as investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. Toxicology results are pending.
