Ripley County Sheriff Warns of Phone Scam

The callers are posing as Sheriff's Office employees.

(Ripley County, Ind.) – Beware of telephone scammers impersonating Ripley County Sheriff’s Office employees.

According to the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, the scammers are calling residents regarding missing court dates, missing jury duty, or having an outstanding fine or warrant.

Residents are reminded to never provide personal information even if the caller ID appears to be a local number or number listed on a county website.

No law enforcement agency collects payments of any type over the phone.
