(Ohio County, Ind.) – Charges of Burglary Resulting in Bodily Injury were filed on Monday against Marvin Moyers Jr, of Patriot.

The charges stem from a burglary that occurred in Ohio County on June 26, when Moyers allegedly took several firearms, a table saw and other personal belongings from a home on Mexico Ridge Road.

During the burglary, the homeowner was allegedly tied up and repeatedly beat. The victim sustained various injuries including black eyes, contusions, and at least one laceration that required stitches.

Investigators located a significant amount of blood at the residence, footprints in the living room and basement, and a black cable fastened to a chair. They also observed a red SUV near the home via home security footage.

That same day, Indiana State Police detectives learned that a woman called 911 in Switzerland County to report a domestic battery. The woman was a girlfriend of Moyers and had gone to his residence to retrieve some of her property.

Switzerland County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Moyers’ residence, where they observed an older, red SUV in the driveway. Detectives believed that the vehicle matched the vehicle in the surveillance video at the burglary victim’s home and Moyers was arrested for Domestic Battery and transported to Switzerland County Jail.

A search warrant was issued for Moyers’ residence and vehicles and various items such as a shotgun, cigars and electronic devices were allegedly uncovered and believed to have been stolen from the Mexico Ridge residence.

Moyers is awaiting his initial hearing in Ohio Circuit Court.
