(Rising Sun, Ind.) - A third person has been arrested in connection to a March shooting in Rising Sun.
Joseph Louden, 21, of Rising Sun was booked into Dearborn County Jail on Friday.
Louden was a part of an alleged drug deal gone wrong that occurred on March 3rd in the area of State Road 262.
Investigators say Louden was attempting to possess and sell approximately six grams of Oxycodone when Jesse Michel allegedly held him at gunpoint and robbed him of $6,400.
Louden reported that he was driving down his driveway when a white male, later identified as Sean Murphy, was limping down the drive. Louden stopped to assist Murphy, when he was held at gunpoint by a masked man, believed to be Jesse Michel.The two men allegedly kicked and punched Louden and made off with the cash.
At that time, Louden allegedly retrieved a handgun and started shooting at the two men as they ran away. Michel is alleged to have returned fire. Following the shootout, Murphy was located in his vehicle on Hartford Pike with multiple gunshot wounds. He would lose his spleen and part of his intestines.
Michel was located and arrested two days later.
Prior to his arrest, police took Marcus Donald into custody. Donald is accused of setting up the drug transaction for Louden. He is charged with Conspiracy to Commit Robbery.
As for Louden, he is facing charges of Attempted Dealing in a Narcotic Drug, with an enhancing circumstance involving a firearm (Level 2 Felony); Attempted Possession of a Narcotic Drug over 5 Grams but Less than 10 grams, with an enhancing circumstance involving a firearm (Level 4 Felony); Aggravated Battery (Level 3 Felony); and Battery with a Deadly Weapon, (Level 5 Felony).
All three men are currently held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.
