Jeff-Craig Fire and Rescue in Switzerland County was among the award recipients.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) – Three local fire departments have received generous grants from the Indiana DNR Forestry Division.
More than 70 rural and volunteer fire department from 47 Indiana counties have been awarded more than $320,000 in Volunteer Fire Assistance grants.
Recipients were selected based on population density, acres of public wildlands protected and wildland fire reporting to DNR Fire Control Headquarters.
Local fire departments receiving grants include:
- Eagle Fire Company of Oldenburg – Franklin County - $4,000
- Jeff-Craig Fire & Rescue – Switzerland County - $5,000
- Moorefield Community Fire Department – Switzerland County - $5,000
The awards will be used for training, installation of dry hydrants, or to purchase necessary firefighting equipment and gear to combat wildland fires.
