The potential pathway would better connect students and community members to all corners of town.

(Dillsboro, Ind.) – The Town of Dillsboro is exploring the possibility of adding a pedestrian and bike fitness loop to safely access and connect to all corners of the town.
Dillsboro Main Street on behalf of the Town of Dillsboro has received a 2022 Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning Grant.
The $20,000 grant was awarded by the Indiana Department of Health, Division of Nutrition and Physical Activity.
According to Town Manager Susan Greco, the grant funding will be used for consulting services to explore the creation of a pedestrian and bike pathway.
“The safety and health of our children is important to the everyday life of our town. Dillsboro Elementary School (part of the South Dearborn Community School Corporation) is a real ‘hometown’ school. Students reside in town and within the local township. Some walk or bike to school. Many of them participate in organized baseball and soccer programs at the Community Park, and also bicycle and walk to the library and other destinations for sports, study and socializing. This pathways project will facilitate their movement to school, to sports activities at the park, to the library, and to social services in town,” a news release reads.
