(Versailles, Ind.) – The Versailles Pumpkin Show has been added to a long list of popular area events that have been cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns.

This year’s event would have been the 118th Pumpkin Show. The only other time the annual fall festival was cancelled was during World War II.

The Versailles Lions Club made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event at their recent meeting. The vote to cancel was unanimous, reports The Versailles Republican.

According to the report, the Lions Club believes the decision to cancel is the responsible thing to do as COVID-19 cases continue to increase in the Hoosier state.

The Lions Club expects the Pumpkin Show to return in 2021.
