Wallace Drops Bid For Ind. Governor

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Mike Pence will be uncontested when he runs for the GOP nomination for Indiana governor.

Indianapolis businessman Jim Wallace was denied a spot on the Republican primary ballot when he came up short of the required number of signature petitions by last month’s filing deadline.

Wallace’s campaign posted a message on its website Thursday that he is suspending his run.

"After careful consideration of the Election Commission decision last week, it is clear that further efforts to restore our candidacy on the ballot would jeopardize the timely election process with which we sought to comply," Wallace said.

Pence is uncontested in the May 8 party primary election, and so is his likely November opponent, Democrat and former Indiana House Speaker John Gregg.
