(North Bend, Oh.) - Every year a wreath is laid at the tomb of former President William Henry Harrison. This year’s wreath laying marks his 246th birthday.

Only serving his term for 31 days, Harrison became the shortest tenure president. Harrison was also the first president to pass away while in office, therefore, his death sparked a brief conflict and many questions about presidential line of succession.

The wreath ceremony which was implemented by President Gerald Ford has become White House tradition where the current president sends a wreath to each tomb of the former presidents in remembrance of their lives.

On Friday, February 1, 2019 the wreath will be laid for President Harrison. The event hosted by the Village of North Bend will start at 10:30 a.m. at the North Bend Municipal Building where attendees will gather and then walk to the tomb.

The wreath ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Harrison’s tomb at 2 Cliff Road. Three Rivers Educational Campus will host a luncheon beginning at noon.
