(Rising Sun, Ind.) - Rising Sun Main Street and Ohio County Tourism announce the grand prize winner and runners-up in the Rising Sun Main Street-Ohio County Tourism Holiday Window Decorating Contest. Nine businesses and organizations participated in the competition.
Still Pointe Studio Gallery, located at 118 A. Main Street in Rising Sun, was deemed the grand prize winner. Securing three perfect scores from the judges, Still Pointe received a score of 129 out of a possible 160 points.
The eight judges consisted of board members from both Rising Sun Main Street and Ohio County Tourism. Members completed a judging sheet for each location, recording 0-4 points in the categories of: quality of construction, creativity, design, and overall presentation. Each judge was allotted four bonus points if desired.
Stille Pointe Studio Gallery received rave reviews from several judges.
“Wonderful attention to detail and design. The simplicity of the white Winter Wonderland with the real Christmas tree display behind is wonderful. The touch of the red cardinal is the special bonus”, was noted by one of the judges.
“With the snow theme in all white, this window absolutely popped. Loved the cut out snowflakes hanging on twinkle lights. Beautifully placed tree in the background. I want to see what’s in this store”, a second judged wrote.
Still Pointe Studio Gallery wins 30-days of advertising on Ohio County Tourism’s billboard located on Eads Parkway in Lawrenceburg. Tourism staff will work with the gallery owner to convert their message to a billboard to go on display in February or March 2024. All window decorating participants will receive a monetary award from Rising Sun Main Street.
“It was really fun to see how the businesses and organizations within the Main Street district put their own spin on their windows. Whether nostalgic, artistic, or modern, each participant incorporated a personal vision of a theme into their displays,” said Kendal Miller, executive director of Ohio County Tourism.
First runner-up was Rowan & Company at 120 North Walnut Street, with the Purdue Extension-Ohio County office, located at 412 Main Street deemed the second runner-up. All contestants are located in Rising Sun.
Other participants include: Amber’s Antiques/Hygge Hus/Hygge Flat Airbnb (211 & 213 Main Street); the Empire House (114 South Front Street); Essentially Us Mercantile Too (231 Main Street); King’s Landing (143 Main Street); Ohio County Soil & Water (100 North Walnut Street); and the Rising Sun Market Place (201 Main Street).
“We’re thankful to the business owners and organizations for participating,” said Meagan White, Rising Sun Main Street board member. “We’re excited to talk about the likelihood of hosting the contest again in 2024.”
The public is invited to view all the entries along with the City of Rising Sun holiday lights, the downtown window paintings by Amberly King and Kelli Jo Land, and all the participants on the Light Up Ohio County Residential Holiday Decorating Contest Light Trail. The Christmas Casino at Rising Star Casino Resort will be decked out until January 2nd.
