Josh Ringer Named Running Back Mr. Football

He is now officially in the running for Indiana Mr. Football.

(St. Leon, Ind.) – Josh Ringer is one step away from becoming Indiana Mr. Football.

On Monday, the East Central star was named Running Back Mr. Football by the Indiana Football Coaches Association. As the top player at his position, Ringer is officially on the ballot for overall Mr. Football.

Ringer finished his senior season with 2,880 rushing yards (new school record) and 55 touchdowns. He also caught 13 passes for 278 yards and five scores.

In the state championship game, Ringer carried the ball a season-high 34 times for 251 yards and three touchdowns, capping off a phenomenal career with back-to-back state titles.

He will leave East Central High School with most of the school’s rushing records including career yards (6,640) and touchdowns (110).

The Mr. Football announcement is typically announced in mid-December. Ringer is among 10 candidates that will be voted on by head coaches throughout the state.
