INDIANAPOLIS – Forty Indiana high school seniors have been named winners of 2023 scholarship awards from the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.
The IBCA announced Wednesday that the award recipients will each receive a $500 grant.
A total of 37 seniors were presented with the Crawley Scholarship. Criteria for the scholarship includes achievement in basketball, achievement in academics, participation in extracurricular activities and service to one’s school and community.
Local recipients of the Crawley Scholarship include:
- Lizzie Redar, Lawrenceburg
- Rhys Hofer, East Central
- Cole Wheat, East Central
"I would like to congratulate you for being selected as a recipient," IBCA executive director emeritus Steve Witty wrote in informing winners of the various selections. "... Thank you for your contributions to Indiana high school basketball, and best of luck as you move on to the college of your choice."
From the Lawrenceburg Lady Tigers coaching staff
Redar, who is second in her class at LHS, will attend Indiana University as a direct admit to the Kelley School of Business. She will major in Business Analytics.
Redar averaged 14.6 points and 10.3 rebounds and led the Tigers to a Rivertown championship and to the sectional championship game her senior year. She was EIAC All Conference, Rivertown MVP, HBCA All District, IBCA Honorable Mention All State and IBCA First team Academic All State for basketball this season.
“I am so excited and honored to win this scholarship," said Redar. I love basketball so much and was so lucky to enjoy my senior year with our group of six. I’m also very grateful to Coach White for nominating me for this award.”
