Fourteen local boys and girls basketball players have been recognized for their work in the classroom.
(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Hundreds of Indiana high school basketball stars are being recognized for their work in the classroom.
The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association recently released its 2019-20 Boys and Girls Academic All-State teams.
Seventy-one Indiana high school seniors — 39 boys and 32 girls — were chosen as first-team Academic All-State. Another 377 student-athletes made honorable mention.
Locally, Rising Sun's T.J. Manifold earn Academic All-State First Team honors.
Colt Meyer (Batesville), Cory Ralston (South Ripley), Andrew Rennekamp (Lawrenceburg), Matt Riehle (Milan) and Carter Wade (Milan) were recognized as honorable mention.
Jac-Cen-Del's Regan Carroll was the only area girl to earn a First Team selection.
Megan Caudy (East Central), Ashlan Hill (Franklin County), Elsa Meek (South Dearborn), Macy Prickel (Batesville), Macey Radenheimer (Lawrenceburg), Carlie Werner (Batesville) and Abigail Westerfeld (Batesville) were honorable mention.
In order to be considered, seniors had to maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale, a class rank in the upper 25 percent of one’s class, an SAT score of 1,100 (on the reading and math sections) or an ACT composite score of 24.
