(Aurora, Ind.) - South Dearborn High School recently started their new Esports program this past week and joined the Indiana High School Esports Network (IHSEN) for the Spring 2021 season. South Dearborn Esports will participate in four (4) categories: Forza, Super Smash Brothers Ultimate (SSBU), Rocket League, and Chess.

Students were very excited to come in after school and practice in the new Esports Lab located in South Dearborn High School. The new lab consists of the latest gaming platforms including specialized graphics and video enhancements. Sought through a variety means, the lab provides a great environment for gaming, collaboration and overall strategy.

The Rocket League team, comprised of multiple teams, held their first scrimmage of the year against Munster High School on Friday. The Knights were able to come away from the scrimmage (a best of 5) with a convincing 3-0 sweep of Munster High School. Sponsor, Jonathan Krath stated, “This built a tremendous amount of confidence within our first year program and we are going to use that momentum during seasonal play against Marion High School this upcoming week.”

The Rocket League game against Marion High School will be streamed live on https://www.twitch.tv/sdhs_esports. This will be one of many opportunities for students on the Esports teams at South Dearborn to showcase their talents to friends and family along with other area high schools looking to begin their own chapters.
