It was a highly competitive season within the EIAC.
(Southeast Indiana) – Twelve players from the Eastern Indiana Athletic Conference have earned All-Conference honors.
The 2023-24 EIAC Boys Basketball All-Conference Team was released on Monday.
This season, the all-conference team was made up of players from Greensburg, Batesville, Lawrenceburg, East Central and South Dearborn.
It was a competitive season within the conference as five teams remained in the conference title picture going into the final two weeks of the season. On the final night of the regular season, Greensburg was able to capture the outright title and prevent a three-way tie with an overtime win over East Central.
The Pirates (6-1) had three All-Conference selections in Jack McKinsey, Drew Busick and Addison Barnes-Pettit. Busick was the EIAC scoring leader in conference games at 13.9 per contest.
Batesville and Lawrenceburg had three selections each.
Junior Cade Kaiser and seniors Sam Johnson, and Jack Grunkemeyer represent the Bulldogs on the All-Conference Team. Kaiser was named the league MVP after averaging 10.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.6 steals per conference game.
Johnson (13.6 PPG, 5.6 RPG) and Grunkemeyer (10.0 PPG, 7.0 RPG) were among the top scorers and rebounders in the conference.
Lawrenceburg is represented on the All-Conference Team by senior Charlie Meyer, and juniors Cooper Bobo and Noah Knigga.
Meyer averaged 10.7 points and 6.1 rebounds in EIAC matchups. Knigga, one of the top defenders in the conference, averaged 9.6 points and 5.3 rebounds, while Bobo put up 9.0 points and 3.1 assists per game.
The All-Conference Team was rounded out by South Dearborn’s Brodie Teke, and the East Central duo of Carson Pieczonka and Dylan Maxwell.
Teke finished fifth in scoring in the conference at 12.6 PPG. He also averaged 1.7 steals.
Pieczonka was third in scoring at 12.9 PPG, and 10th in assists at 2.3 per contest. Maxwell, one of the most well-rounded players in the conference, averaged 10.3 points, 5.4 rebounds, a conference-high 4.0 assists, and 1.7 steals per EIAC matchup.
Greensburg head coach Shaun Busick was named the EIAC Coach of the Year.
