This event is hosted by the Carrigan Family to award the scholarship to an adult who is continuing their education much like Denny Carrigan did.

A 5k seems fitting since Denny was an avid runner who encouraged his kids and others to run. He believed that running helped build discipline and mental toughness.
We chose Memorial Day because Denny was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of American Legion Post #59. He believed in attending the Post #59 Memorial Day events to pay tribute to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice.
