Here is what is happening at Hillforest Museum in October.
The popular Aurora Ghost Walk sponsored by Main Street Aurora is scheduled Thursday, October 25 at 7:00 p.m. Tour the streets of Aurora after dark with local historian Jim Waldon and learn of the unseen inhabitants of the town. The tour includes a lowlight tour of Hillforest and refreshments. For Aurora Ghost Walk reservations call Main Street Aurora at 812-926-1100.
Hillforest is hosting its annual Mystery at the Mansion Dinner Theater Friday and Saturday, October 26 and 27 when Rivertown Players present “The Butler Did It” by Tony Wallinger. There’s been a murder at the manor and the butler Jenkins looks like the likely culprit. Did he or didn’t he? The mystery dinner theater begins at 6:30 p.m. with a delicious three-course dinner served in the Hillforest parlors. A glass of “spirits” is included followed by a cash bar. Cost: $45 for non-members, $40 for Hillforest members. Reservations may be made online at www.hillforest.org or by calling 812-926-0087.
Hillforest thanks Rivertown Players who annually perform and sponsor the mystery dinner theater to benefit Hillforest Museum, a 501c3 organization. Hillforest is open for its 62nd touring season. The 1855 Victorian home of Thomas and Sarah Gaff, 213 Fifth Street, Aurora, is a National Historic Landmark and one of Dearborn County’s top tourist attractions. Guided tours are available Tuesday through Sunday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Last tour begins at 4:30 p.m. Admission is $10.00 – 14 and up, $4.00 for students (ages 7-13), children 6 and under are free.
