Over 1,000 dresses are available. All are contemporary and are either new (with tags) or like-new. Everyone who would like to shop at ReProm must go online or call for an appointment. No walk-ins will be allowed.
Participants are asked to bring a formal dress in clean, ready-to-wear condition to exchange for a new or gently-used dress. Dresses must fit within current formal fashion trends to qualify for an exchange. Long formal dresses may be exchanged for any dress. Short dresses may only be exchanged for another short dress. All dresses may not be accepted for exchange. Dresses with rips, tears, stains or broken zippers and clasps will not be accepted. Participants should be prepared to make a donation in case their dress is not accepted. Those without dresses to exchange are welcome to make a cash or check donation instead.
The formal dress exchange is not a need-based program. It is open to everyone and is based on the principle that buying something to wear one time is extremely wasteful. The program saves money and reduces waste by reusing items that otherwise would only be used once. ReProm is open to everyone and is not exclusively for Dearborn County residents. Appointments can be scheduled by going online to www.dearborncountyrecycles.com/reprom or by calling 812-926-9963.
