(Batesville, Ind.) - Batesville Soccer Club Premier had their opening weekend April 1-2. The home opener for the club started with the Premier 13U boys team hosting Alliance/CESC 04 Boys Blue at Gillespie Soccer Park on Saturday. The team played well in a defensive battle. Ian Carpenter scored the goal for the Premier side off of a loose ball from a corner kick. The opposing club equalized the score and the outcome of the game was a 1-1 tie. Next weekend the team travels to New Albany, IN to compete against Southern Indiana United. The Premier Irish 18U girls team traveled to Grand Park in Westfield to play against Indiana Fire 19U on Sunday. The ladies came together as a full team for the first time this season. They achieved victory with a 2-1 final score. Taylor Rowlett (Batesville) scored a goal assisted by Jenna Farmer (Lawrenceburg) and Alyssa Oyler (Lawrenceburg) scored a goal assisted by Rowlett. Danielle Clark (South Dearborn), Hannah Miller (Lawrenceburg) played smart and tough in the defensive middle. The weekend starting the 8th of April the 18U girls team will travel to Elizabethtown, KY for a college showcase tournament which will test their skills and abilities playing against some of the top level teams in OH, KY, and IL. The Premier 15U boys team opened their season with a road game in Bloomington on Sunday. The location was a neutral site against Clay Youth Soccer Club 15U boys from Brazil, IN. Cameron Todd started the game with the first goal with an assist from Evan Vogelsang. Blake Borgman had 2 goals with another assist from Evan. Rounding out the scoring Adam Vogelsang had a "Hat Trick" (3 goals) with 1 assist coming from Cameron. The final score was 6-0 with the Premier team coming on top. The team's next game is their home opener at Gillespie Soccer Park versus FTSC 02 Blue Sunday April 9th at 2:00 pm. The Premier 15U girls team opened the season on the road this past weekend. On Saturday, the team traveled to Seymour to face the Seymour / Alliance FC 15U girls. The first half of the game was played well. Defensively the team played as a unit protecting their untested goalkeeper. However, the team played short sided for the entire game, with only 10 on the field, while the Seymour side played full strength using their 3 subs at will. The first half score was held to 0-1, however injuries and exhaustion set in during the second half with the final score of 0-6 for the Seymour side. On Sunday, the Premier 15U girls team traveled to Bloomington to play the Clay Youth Soccer Club 15U girls from Brazil, IN. The Bloomington location was a neutral site chosen by CYSC as their 'home' field. The Premier girls had finally been assembled together as nearly an entire team for the first time in several weeks. During the first half, the coaches were finally able to set the team formation and line up so the ladies could settle in. However, in that process the CYSC team scored 3 goals on another untested goalkeeper. During half time adjustments were made that allowed our ladies to attack with several scoring opportunities. Unfortunately, time expired before they could find the back of the net. The final score was 0-3 CYSC. The girls next test is their final road game for the season next week in Indianapolis. Other teams that were scheduled to play this past weekend were the Premier 17U boys, 11U boys, and the 12U – Twisters team. The 17U and 11U boys teams had their games canceled in Muncie due to weather related facility issues. The 12U – Twisters game was canceled at Gillespie Soccer Park due to an unforeseen incident with the opposing team. Batesville Soccer Club Premier has 9 teams in total. 18U girls, 15U girls, 12U girls – Twisters, 12U girls – Bulldogs, 10U girls, 17U boys, 15U boys, 13U boys, and 11U boys. We are excited for this season and look forward to the several tournaments that each team has chosen and the final tournament that BSC Premier will attend as a club. Our home field is Gillespie Soccer Park, 922 Delaware Road, Batesville, IN. Further information can be found at www.batesvillesoccer.org.
