(Frankfort, Ky.) - Boone County Judge-Executive Gary Moore is the first Republican to file for 4th District Kentucky Congressman.

Congressman Geoff Davis is not running for re-election this year, opening the door for several Republicans who hope to succeed him.

Moore filed his paperwork in at the Kentucky Secretary of State’s office in Frankfort on Monday.

Afterwards at an appearance at Verst Logistics in Hebron, Moore said he plans to campaign on a tea party platform low taxes and small government.

"If we're going to see job creation and if we're going to see economic recovery, we've got to get government out of the way and let business do its thing," Moore said.

Moore was first elected the judge-executive in Boone County in 1998. He said since he took office, businesses moving to Boone County have invested $1.4 billion and created 12,000 new jobs.

Other Republicans who have announced their intentions to run in the 4th District include State Rep. Alecia Webb-Edington of Fort Wright and Lewis County Judge-Executive Thomas Massie.

No Democrats have filed as the filing deadline of January 31 nears.
